Nag, nag, nag...

"Until the day I die, I promise, I won't change...so you better give up :)"

Seriously thinking why do people resist to change ? Why don't children like their parents constantly telling them what to do, why don't guys want their gals invariably reminding them what not to do, why don't husbands like their wives regularly questioning them on what they are doing ?
Who are you going with ?
What are you going to do ?
Where are you going ?
When are you going to come back ?
Why are you going ?
How are you going to return ?
Coz while in business, this rule of 6W's is called information-gathering; in life, it is called nagging!

It is natural for parents to be concerned about their loved ones, and talk about their chores and outside activities. But nobody likes a benevolent dictator! Non-stop complaining is also a form of criticism. Whining or rebukes are not healthy ways of imbibing good habits in children, instead that will turn them deaf-ear.

So how does one bring about a positive change? Well, right thing, told at the right time, in the right tone, using the right language - can make all the difference. Telling a child "I should never expect you to do your homework properly" will cause rebellion; and telling him "You should do your homework properly to come out with flying colors in the exam" will give encouragement. A child's mind is soft like clay: if molded with fear and ridicule it turns hostile; if molded with tolerance and praises, it turns docile!

Children Learn What They Live - Dorothy L. Law
If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn . . .
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight . . .
If a child lives with fear, he learns to be apprehensive . . .
If a child lives with pity, he learns to feel sorry for himself . . .
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy . . .
If a child lives with jealousy, he learns to feel guilt . . .
BUT
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient . . .
If a child lives with encouragement, he learns to be confident . . .
If a child lives with praise, he learns to be appreciative . . .
If a child lives with acceptance, he learns to love . . .
If a child lives with honesty, he learns what truth is . . .
If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice . . .
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith in himself and those about him . . .
If a child lives with friendliness, he learns the world is a nice place in which to live . .

The Difference

How many people feel that life is so dreary... right from getting up in the morning, hurrying to get ready, gobbling the breakfast if time permits, overtaking others to get past the traffic, rushing to the office, working the whole day on ppt, xls or some lines of code, spending extra hours in the confines of our cubicles, getting back home just for the sake of dinner and a bed to lie down....and starting all over again the next day!
Is life really so monotonous or we have forgotten how to live ?

How many people fear of the unknown... praying on the day of the exams or the results, leaning towards astrology or palmistry to speculate what's going to happen in the future, listening to the blabber on TV channels of some 'grahan' bringing in some 'maha-pralay', worrying what others might think if they speak-up their minds and hearts!
Is everything destined or our actions define what will happen to us ?

And, how many people appreciate small things in life... breathing the fresh morning breeze, walking along the beach by the moon-light, relishing a road-side 'gol-gappa', singing and dancing with friends, laughing just to bring a smile on others face, acknowledging a trivial gift, giving a helping hand to somebody, understanding the language of the heart and the eyes!
Is it gold or joy that we seek to accomplish ?

This new year, make a difference to your lives. Thank God for whatever little you've got, than frown on what you've not. Remember God in the best of your times, and not in the times of your sorrow. Feel blessed!

The Difference - Grace L. Naessens
I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish that I didn't take time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task,
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered. He answered, "You didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me--He said, "But you didn't seek,"

I tried to come into God's presence; I used all my keys at the lock,
God gently and lovingly chided, "My child, you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning, and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray
